Theoretical background: PHD studies at the “Montanuniversität” Leoben, Studies at the Technical University Graz (Austria)

Key skills: Thermodynamics, drying technology, fluid mechanics, engineering

Latest positions: Lecturer at the FH Joanneum Graz, guest professor at the “Montanuniversität” Leoben

more than 40 years of experience

Erwin has more than 35 years of experience with direct- and indirect drying of fibers and sludge. In addition, he has an impressive knowledge about the thermal treatment of minerals. Born in Upper Austria, he „had to“ start his career at Austria‘s largest industrial company, the VOEST Alpine. Then he worked at a large plant manufacturer in Graz, first in the paper drying department, later in the area of sludge drying and burning. He was in charge of the technology as well as of the commercial side. In parallel he extensively worked as a consultant for drying concepts for the wood industry. Last but not least he worked for another plant manufacturer, leading the works for thermal treatment of minerals and developing this business field to a successful business unit. Today, Erwin shares his knowledge and experience with his students and is devoted to his personal area of concern, the sustainability.

Helmut Germek

Latest positions: Leader of Process Automation Depatrment

more than 45 years of
experience

Right after his enginnering studies Helmut started his career in the department for measurement and control systems at the Andritz Group. He soon realized that it needs a deep process knowledge to enable efficient and fast control. His credo was and is: „No control without detailed process understanding“. Helmut was involved in nearly any process automation activity (including start-up and optimization) in the paper and pulpy industry (stock preparation for recycled fiber or market pulp, paper, board or tissue machines).

Peter Komari

Theoretical background: Polytechnic College (HTL Pinkafeld, Austria)

Key skills: Paper drying, energy and air systems, heat recovery, hall ventilation

more than 40 years of
experience

Based on his broad range of experience with customer support, and a profound understanding of the infrastructure and environment of large-scale paper and board mills, Peter delivers solutions that ensure an optimum level of performance and energy efficiency of the machine- and building related ventilation systems. Peters serves as a partner for the paper industry who is working with already existing and potential new customers. He previously held the positions of a CTO and was co-owner of a plant engineering company in the paper industry. Latest R&D projects focus on the reduction of specific C02 emissions of pulp and paper mills.

Andreas Meyer

Theoretical background: Studies “Process Engineering / Mechanical Engineering” at the Technical University Dresden (Germany)

Key skills: Process optimization, project management, loss-analysis in tissue production and converting

Latest positions: SOFIDEL, Country Operation Manager for Germany; several jobs as Plant Manager and Technical Director in the tissue industry (Schickedanz, Procter & Gamble, WEPA, Hakle)

more than 35 years of experience

Andreas started his professional career as a paper engineer in 1982 in a pulp mill. He was born near Dresden and got to know the Saxon paper industry very early on. After 7 years in the pulp business, he switched to the tissue industry in 1989 and signed a contract with VP Schickedanz (Tempo) in Nürnberg. In 1994 Procter & Gamble took over the Schickedanz paper business. During this time, Andreas was not only active in the operational business, but was also responsible for project management and the development of organizations (high-performance work systems and organizational performance model). In various management positions he got to know the processes of tissue production and tissue conversion in detail and worked on loss analysis and debottlenecking. In addition, he was responsible for major projects such as the engineering of an Andritz tissue machine and further investments to set up a modern tissue site within a very short time.
